SAN JOSE, CA – June 1, 2015 —Tensoft Inc., the leading semiconductor Cloud ERP provider, today announced the execution of a formal agreement with GaN Systems Inc. of Ottawa, Canada, a leading manufacturer of gallium nitride high power transistors for consumer, enterprise, industrial, solar/wind/smartgrid, and transportation power conversion applications. GaN Systems will adopt Tensoft’s Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution to manage end-to-end semiconductor ERP processes, joining a growing list of other global, integrated circuit companies headquartered in Canada that Tensoft has supported, including Solantro Semiconductor, ViXS Systems, Tundra Semiconductor, and Geo Semiconductor.
“We selected the Tensoft semiconductor cloud to automate and manage our core ERP processes,” said GaN Systems President Girvan Patterson. “GaN Systems views Tensoft as a specialist IT solutions provider with the keen ability and experience to support and scale to the expected growth of our business operations. We look forward to implementing the system.”
The Tensoft cloud provides an industry-proven application set for chip companies ranging in size and maturity stage from “emerging growth” through “large scale volume production.” The solution delivers best practice methodologies for a rich user experience, rapid deployment and a quick time to value spanning areas including production finance, planning, operations execution and collaboration with the semiconductor supplier ecosystem.
At the nucleus of Tensoft’s cloud is Tensoft FSM, a web-native application built from the ground up to accommodate the semiconductor industry’s unique manufacturing flow using an “inverted bill-of-materials” (iBOM). The iBOM manages the nuances of starting with one wafer and ending with multiple die, chips or modules versus a traditional BOM available in mass market ERP and MRP systems designed to convert multiple raw materials into a single end product.
“Tensoft FSM supports industry-specific business needs that are critical for semiconductor or related product manufacturers,” said Robert Scarborough, Tensoft President and CEO. “For example, it provides the ability to consolidate and analyze WIP (work-in-process) across all of your supply locations, statistics related to yield, cycle time, cost and production attributes over time, and the capability to track very detailed product genealogy, both forwards and backwards. This feature set is the industry-specific functionality that GaN Systems was looking for. We look forward to working with GaN – and doing what we can to contribute to their overall success.”
About GaN Systems
GaN Systems is a fabless semiconductor company that is the first place systems designers go to realize all the benefits of gallium nitride in their power conversion and control applications. To overcome silicon’s limitations in switching speed, temperature, voltage and current, the company developed the most complete range of gallium nitride power switching transistors for a wide variety of markets. GaN Systems’ unique Island Technology® addresses today’s challenges of cost, performance, and manufacturability resulting in devices that are smaller and more efficient than other GaN design approaches. The company is headquartered in Ottawa, Canada. For more information, please visit: www.gansystems.com
