Tensoft CEO Bob Scarborough presented at ‘SEMICON Southeast Asia 2016‘ held in Penang, Malaysia in April. The event theme at SEMICON SEA this year was “Transforming the Southeast Asia Semiconductor Landscape for the New Hybrid Age.” It was held at the SPICE Arena in Penang, from April 26 – 28. For more information, please visit www.semiconsea.org.
The presentation was organized by SEMI and was part of the ‘Supply Chain in High Tech Industry Forum’ event. Bob’s talk focused on ‘Optimizing the High Tech Supply Chain in the Era of IoT’. Following is the abstract of his presentation-
“The Internet of Things (IoT) is a market changing opportunity. Just like other dramatic technological changes it presents opportunities and challenges. Certainly in Silicon Valley the breadth of the potential opportunity – engaging software, networking, and hardware companies – has engaged imaginations and production.
Semiconductors are a core part of the systems solution – both high value and high volume chips will be part of these systems. While some changes will be incremental – other requirements, markets, and challenges will engage companies for years to come.
Supply Chain operations – and more broadly value chain operations – will be critical to delivering the flexibility, effective, dynamic, and cost efficient products needed to meet this market vision. By value chain I mean the full flow model through product manufacturing to end customer. The end customer potential with IoT is expanding and changing – which offers new challenges for demand planning. New materials and new product requirements will push for adaptation of supply chain analysis. Supply chain optimization will continue to require a focus on the flow and capacity in your supply chain – combined with deep understanding of product quality, cost, and time to market drivers.
My goal in this discussion is to cover some concepts and opportunities of interest to anyone focused on optimizing their manufacturing supply chain in an era of IoT.”
