Last month, Tensoft introduced powerful new features like shipping date controls and invoice date limits to help businesses enforce transaction boundaries and meet audit requirements with ease.
What Are Shipping and Invoice Date Controls?
These new features allow organizations to define a fixed window of acceptable transaction dates for shipping and invoicing activities:
- Shipping Date Controls are managed within SemiOps under Financial Control Management > Transaction Date Limits.
Example: In the screenshot below, you can see that the Transaction Date Limit of +/- 30 days will only allow you to create receipts up to 30 days forward or 30 days backwards from the current date. The Shipping Date Limit (+ Days) will limit shipping dates 30 number of days forward from the current date. The – days will limit shipping dates to 7 days backwards from the current date. These two values are separated and can be different unlike the transaction date limit.
- Invoice Date Controls are managed in DemandOps under Master Setup > Order Controls.
Each control lets administrators set a range of days (before and after the current date) within which users can enter shipping or invoice dates. This ensures that sales operations team, schedulers, shippers, or finance teams, cannot backdate or future-date transactions beyond acceptable limits. Access to these settings can be restricted using security groups and user management tools. This is especially useful in SemiOps, where third-party shippers may be allowed to enter shipping data. With these controls in place, you don’t need to micromanage external users, the system enforces the boundaries for you.
What are the Benefits of Date Controls?
These date controls serve as a critical accountability measure. By enforcing transaction date restrictions, you can –
- Prevent backdating or future-dating errors
- Ensure audit readiness
- Align with internal and external compliance standards
- Reduce the need for manual oversight
- Flexible Configuration
By implementing these controls, businesses can demonstrate a commitment to high compliance standards and operational discipline. Whether you’re managing internal teams or coordinating with third-party vendors, these tools provide the structure and flexibility needed to maintain control over critical transaction dates. It is highly useful for companies undergoing digital transformation or preparing for audits.
