In this blog post, I’ll cover how to connect to Tensoft SemiOps and DemandOps API’s with Excel and Power BI. This is highly beneficial for users who prefer to create their own custom reports or Power BI dashboard using raw data over canned reports.
We have created a list of APIs – 12 for SemiOps and 7 for DemandOps that you can use to access data.
How to Get Data from SemiOps:
SemiOps is connected through OData feed and it is similar to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. To connect, copy the API from the list and then in Excel or Power BI, click on Get data > From Other Sources > From Odata Feed. Paste the copied URL.
If it’s the first-time logging in, it may ask for credentials to authenticate. Click on Basic and login using your SemiOps email address. Password is a web token generated in SemiOps by navigating to Finance > Web Service > Generate Token. It will be a long 90-character auto generated password. I would recommend pasting it on a notepad first to make sure that it does not include any leading or trailing spaces.
After connecting, you’ll see the raw data. Both Excel and Power BI will save those credentials for future. Just click on Refresh to get the latest data.
Some of the popular data sources are Inventory Infoes, Lot Histories Backlog, Production Releases, Receipt Info, etc.
How to Get Data from DemandOps:
DemandOps is similar to SemiOps except that it’s a web source. In Excel or Power BI, click on Get data > From Other Sources > From Web. Replace the company code with your unique DemandOps company code in the URL and then copy and paste it in excel or Power BI.
Click on Basic and login using your DemandOps username and password. This will take you right into the query editor. Click on Convert it To Table and then expand the columns.

You can get your bookings, billings and backlog information as well as sales order, business and part list from DemandOps.
If you don’t have Power BI desktop, just go to the Microsoft store and search for Power BI. It’s a free application and you can download and install it.
