Scheduling is the process of assigning commit dates or planned ship dates to backlog lines. Tensoft SemiOps streamlines the schedule management processes and integrates with planning and backlog. The Sales Operations can enter the orders including the customer request date for each line to be shipped and the Operations team, supported by the production plan and the backlog review, can decide the commit dates for the backlog.
The salesperson can set up the order, but it is the person in the logistics and scheduling team that knows the ship from location in most cases. With insight into production, the scheduling team can more accurately decide when they will be able to fulfil the order, where it should be fulfilled from and what inventory it should come from.
There are two options for scheduling in SemiOps, Scheduling DO and ATP Scheduling DO. Both options allow you to enter commit dates and split schedules. The ATP screen allows you to schedule orders by part and location – the scheduling team can assign a commit date by factoring in current and expected inventory. Once the commit date is set you can split the quantity if needed to allow multiple shipments against each line.
With the ‘Sync Now’ feature, you can see the updated inventory status (like hold or assigned) as well as any updates to its commit date in DemandOps. Together they provide an informed view and help with inventory management. For example: you may see that a commit date is set, but it hasn’t been allocated yet. It gives the sales team visibility into the scheduling process, and they can then print out an order confirmation and send it to their customers to keep them up to date with the latest information.
The Backlog report allows you to review line schedules with open quantity based off commit date quickly.
